Enterprise Adviser Network event aims to link South Derbyshire Employers with local schools

Employers in South Derbyshire will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits to their business that the Enterprise Adviser Network can bring at an exclusive function being held by D2N2.

The Future of South Derbyshire: Schools & Business Together, being held at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote on March 24, will showcase the growing Enterprise Adviser Network whilst offering the chance for local employers to connect with school careers leaders.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from representatives of the Careers & Enterprise Company and D2N2, as well as current Enterprise Advisers

Enterprise Adviser Network

The event is being held as two-thirds of businesses revealed that they have concerns over a lack of sufficiently skilled people to fill their roles over the coming years.

The Enterprise Adviser Network aims to address the so-called skills gap witnessed by employers by linking businesses to their local schools with the aim of helping to shape the careers education of local young people.

Studies have shown that four or more encounters with the world of work significantly increases a young person’s future earnings.

There are currently 2600 Enterprise Advisers supporting schools across the UK.

D2N2

D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, in partnership with the Careers & Enterprise Company, operates the Enterprise Adviser Network, designed to help businesses interact with schools and linking enterprise advisers to education providers.

To date the Enterprise Coordinators have engaged with 128 schools across the region, helping schools form their careers strategy and take part in careers-focused activities for students.

D2N2 Enterprise Coordinator for South-East Derbyshire said: “This event is to help bring Secondary Schools and Employers in South Derbyshire together. Both want to work together and we’re going to tell them how.”

“This is a brilliant opportunity for businesses to get involved and do their bit for the community; at the same time as stimulating interest from students around their own sector and business for potential future staff, vital to the success of businesses in South Derbyshire.”

Tickets for the event are currently available.
