Entrepreneurs to share growth stories with city’s scale-up firms at funding seminar

Scale-up businesses looking to help fuel expansion through finance will be able speak to funders and other entrepreneurs on a growth journey at a seminar next month.

The ‘Finance Which Fits’ event will take place online on Wednesday 28 April between 1-2pm and The panel will also include Lewis Stringer from British Business Bank, and Olly Betts, co-founder and CEO of OpenWrks.

The event is the final installment in a three-part programme called Accelerating Growth, which has been organised by Invest in Nottingham. The programme is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

The free-to-attend event will feature four panellists with expert knowledge of funding options, including representatives from the British Business Bank and OpenWrks – one of the leading fintechs in the field of Open Banking.

They will also be joined by Sarah King, one of the founders of Notts-based We Are Radikl, a support network for women entrepreneurs, which has just been through a funding round itself.

Sarah said: “Going through our own investment round has highlighted some of the inequalities that exist in the world of investment, myths which need dispelling, and the importance of role models – people who fall outside a dominant narrative which suggests investors and investable businesses need to look and feel a certain way.

“We are Radikl exists to increase the start-up and growth rate of businesses founded by women so that everyone shares in the benefits this will bring. This is why we’re really looking forwards to sharing our knowledge at the Accelerating Growth seminar.”

Delegates can register free for Finance Which Fits via Eventbrite.
