To access ESF funding, projects are selected through an ESF Open Call. An ESF Open Call is an open invitation for applicants to submit outline applications against a published specification. This specification sets out the value of funding available, the outputs and type of activity sought, and the timetable and process by which projects will come forward and be assessed and selected.
Calls are published at regular intervals throughout the lifetime of the ESF programme with the timing of calls and their content discussed between the Department of Work and Pensions and the D2N2 ESIF Committee.
There are four current ESF open calls: Digital skills for the employed, Digital skills for the unemployed, Skills Access Hub, and Careers & Employability Hub.
