Event turns to LEGO to tackle serious business of engineering and manufacturing

A serious engineering and manufacturing event today (Monday June 29) – using top child’s toy LEGO to build better business relationships – will also benefit from the expert advice of the D2N2 Growth Hub team.

The Business Peak District Manufacturing showcase is a free event featuring a wide range of manufacturing and engineering activity in the Peak District area. The event aims to support manufacturing and engineering businesses, helping them to reach a wider customer base. It will run from 4pm to 7.30pm today (Monday June 29) at Hope Construction Materials in Hope, Derbyshire (S33 6RP).

Unusually, the Manufacturing Advisory Service event will include an hour long LEGO workshop. It will aim to offer a fun way for delegates to find out more about lean manufacturing, the system of reducing the amount of waste (time, energy and materials) involved in making products.

The D2N2 Growth Hub – Business Support and Advice across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire

The D2N2 Growth Hub – a business support organisation serving Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – was launched last December (2014). It works across the area as a single point of contact for businesses to receive advice and support. Its website – www.d2n2growthhub.co.uk – offers advice on starting up a business, growing an existing one, accessing financial support, employment and skills training, and exporting to international markets.

The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is a partnership between business, local authorities and universities, which provides help, guidance and funding to promote economic growth and create jobs in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Today’s Manufacturing Showcase is part of the High Peak Business Support Summer Programme. It offers opportunities including training courses, seminars and networking events to help local businesses develop and grow. All events are free of charge. Places must be booked in advance.
