A revamped research and development facility – part-funded by D2N2 – has been officially unveiled at a Nottinghamshire company supplying some of the world’s leading brands.
R&D Leverage of Hamilton Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, is a UK leading supplier of tooling for bottles and jars supplied to the food and drink, home products, personal care and pharmaceutical industries. Products it has worked on include 7UP and Tide.
The company has unveiled its improved Product Solutions Lab (PSL), which it upgraded with the help of a £78,000 grant from D2N2’s Unlocking Investment for Growth programme.
The PSL facility provides on-site research and development to try out new bottle and jar shapes, different ways of labeling and capping products, and to test the cost effectiveness of new products before they go to market. It contains the latest generation of industry chillers, dryers, compressors and moulding machines.
Ashfield Labour MP Gloria De Piero, whose constituency R&D Leverage is in, opened the new look PSL on Thursday (October 15), in front of an invited audience (pictured below with Alan Tolley, Managing Director of R&D Leverage UK).
Guests were given a tour of the facility. Alan Tolley, Managing Director of R&D Leverage UK, told them brand owners now required more from their suppliers and the improved PSL was R&D Leverage’s response to that.
Robert Schiavone, Global Marketing director for R&D Leverage, added: “R&D Leverage now provides the total solution; from pre-sales evaluations, product design, prototyping and tooling design, through manufacture and process validation, prior to shipping the production tooling to the customer.”
D2N2’s investment aid will help the company create a further five engineering related jobs.
D2N2’s Unlocking Investment for Growth (UI4G) programme is now fully committed and no longer accepting applications. Grants already approved will in total create over 400 new jobs and safeguard a further 350. The programme has inspired business owners in the D2N2 area to invest over £20million, alongside the grant support, to grow their businesses.
UI4G is supported by the Regional Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.
