More than 40 companies in the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership’s area have been listed in a ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report, commissioned by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).
The annual report published by LSEG lists companies in all UK regions which it classifies as ‘inspirational’; fast growing, dynamic small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) across the UK, with a high turnover – each of the 1,000 companies featured are expanding at an average of 50% per year. All companies listed have a revenue of £6million to £250m and are at least three years old.
Forty-four of the companies listed in the latest LSEG annual report are based in the D2N2 area. The Local Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is a private sector-led partnership of businesses, local authorities, skills and training providers, higher and further education institutions, and community and voluntary organisations which promotes growth and jobs creation across its area.

There are a total of 87 businesses listed for the East Midlands and a further 80 in the West Midlands, showing the strength of the area powering the ‘Midlands Engine for Growth’.
As well as geographical area, the report also divides the businesses it has identified into different sectors; including the Creative Industries, Food and Drink, Manufacturing and Engineering, and Leisure.

Quoted in the LSEG report George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer (pictured on a recent visit to Derby) says: “UK high-growth businesses are leading the charge in rebuilding our economy. These companies are the backbone of the British economy.”
