New business units for Markham Vale business park in D2N2 area

Small and medium-sized enterprises can now relocate to new business units at the Markham Vale business park.

Located on the former Seymour Colliery site, off junction 29a of the M1, near Chesterfield, the 85 hectare Markham Vale retail and business park has attracted over 40 businesses to locate there, bringing over 900 jobs to the area since its opening. It has just added 13 new business units, which range from 1,200 to 3,050 sq. ft, to its offer to businesses.

Part of the Markham Vale site was given Enterprise Zone status in 2013, which means companies located in the Zone can apply for business rate and tax reductions.

Development strategy for UK Enterprise Zones is overseen by Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), and the Markham Vale EZ is invested in by both the Sheffield City Region and D2N2 LEPs.

In March (2017) the Seymour Link Road officially opened (pictured), giving Markham Vale a direct link to Junction 29a of the M1 motorway; making the site more attractive to businesses, particularly those in the transport and logistics sector. The £7.5million cost of the Seymour Link Road was met by the SCR (£3.78m) and D2N2 (£2.5m) LEPs, and Derbyshire County Council (£1.26m).

Businesses located at Markham Vale include Great Bear Distribution and Ferdinand Bilstein UKMeter ProvidainspirepacGould AlloysAW Repair GroupMSE HillerSquadron MedicalIndustrial AncillariesAndrew PageHoldsworth Foods and Ready Egg Products.

Businesses interested in the new Markham Vale business units can contact Stuart Waite from CPP Commercial Property Partners for more information by emailing stuart@cppartners.co.uk or by calling 0115 896 6611.

The D2N2 LEP also oversees the strategic development of its Nottingham & Derby Enterprise Zone; which includes three sites in Greater Nottingham and Infinity Park Derby, just outside Derby City.
