NNC Clinch Beauty Industry First

North Nottinghamshire College in Worksop has been appointed as the first College in the UK to offer training in the latest massage techniques.

NNC’s industry-standard beauty salon at the Carlton Road campus has been chosen as a brand ambassador by Shared Beauty Secrets  – the UK distributor of Lava Shells®.

Lava Shells® is a new revolutionary hot stone body massage treatment and is the world’s first naturally self-heating massage tool promoting extreme relaxation.

The product and massage treatment was launched in March 2009.  It was recently hailed as the ‘new hot stones’ by Vogue magazine and is a favourite with celebrities worldwide.

NNC is launching a programme of specialist one-day training courses, aimed at qualified beauty therapists, salon owners and students who want to learn about this new treatment.

NNC Programme Manager Nikki Slack explained: “This is a real coup for us to be appointed as the first FE training provider to offer this specialist training.

“It shows our commitment to working closely with the beauty industry and staying up to date with new developments to support industry professionals and ensure our students have the most up to date skills for the workplace.

“Lava Shell massage is now used in more than 1,500 salons and spas across the world.

“Our courses will enable professionals and newly qualified beauty therapists to train in the latest techniques and we know that they will prove extremely popular – attracting participants from around the region and beyond.”

NNC offers Lava Relax Massage Training in just one day for £370. Nikki added “The fee includes  all the products and publicity materials needed for you to begin offering the new treatments and anyone trained to NVQ 3 or equivalent in Beauty Therapy can book a place.

The course programme will start in February. For more details call 01909 504634.
