D2N2 has held the fourth in its current series of six free Business Breakfasts, with an event in Retford.
Businesses representing a wide range of areas attended the event this morning (Wednesday November 10), held at Retford Town Hall, in Retford, Nottinghamshire.
Each year the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership – a private sector-led partnership of business, local authorities, skills and training providers, community organisations and others which promotes economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – holds a series of free Business Breakfasts to update the business and wider communities on its projects, and how they might benefit from them.
Nottingham, Derby and Bakewell have already hosted well attended events in the current 2015 Breakfasts series and today the LEP was at Retford. There are further events to follow in Chesterfield (November 18) and Kelham Hall near Newark (November 25). Places at those events are still available. Today’s event featured an update from D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph, particularly on the area’s move towards a Devolution deal; an overview from D2N2 European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) Coordinator on the funding available to ambitious businesses with ideas for projects which will help economic growth.
There was also a talk from Nicola Burley, Executive Director for The Galleries of Justice Museum and City of Caves, who spoke on what the attractions can offer to visitors and businesses, as well as how tourism contributes to the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire (D2N2) area as a whole.
David Ralph, D2N2 Chief Executive, said after today’s event: “It was good to hear people’s thoughts on our work and to share their views on the big changes coming for the area, such as the upcoming Devolution deal, to grant more powers to local areas.”
