D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph will highlight the Local Enterprise Partnership’s support to grow low carbon businesses, and the importance of sustainable businesses, at a speech at an environmental awards dinner this week.
The Investors in the Environment Awards will celebrate businesses in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area, covered by D2N2, which have made significant progress towards reducing their carbon emissions. Businesses who are set to receive an award include D2N2 partner organisation Nottingham Trent University (amongst others).
The Investors in the Environment (iiE) is a not for profit environmental accreditation scheme designed to help businesses save money and reduce their impact on the environment. Since its setup in 2013, it has enlisted 50 local businesses as members, who have reduced their environmental impact, and who have a clear action plan as to how to reduce their carbon footprint and costs year on year.

D2N2 – the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for Derby, Derbyshire (D2), Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (N2) – identified low carbon goods and services as a key driver of economic growth in the area, in its Strategic Economic Plan (SEP); with Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire having one of the highest employment rates (for Low Carbon industries) in all of the LEP areas.
D2N2 has also released the D2N2 Low Carbon Action Plan , which details the area’s advantages and how it will build on them to ensure economic growth in the low carbon sector.
D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph, said: “D2N2 supports the right kind of growth, in the right place at the right time. Businesses who are innovating and delivering low carbon solutions should be commended for their efforts.”
