Places are still available for Derby Scale Up Workshop

Places are still available for a free event to help firms in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire ‘scale up’ and grow.

‘D2N2 Growth Hub ScaleUp- What is it all about?’ will run next Monday (Oct 30), from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Derby’s Pride Park Stadium (DE24 8XL). This will give more information on a new ‘Scale Up’ service which is being delivered by the D2N2 Growth Hub.

The D2N2 Growth Hub is a free service offering growing businesses in its area advice and support. It is part of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, which works to grow its areas economy.

The D2N2 Growth Hub is working in partnership to deliver a unique Scale Up service. It has identified almost 200 companies across its area which could qualify. This will provide business support and a review tailored to each business. Support will be available for businesses which are experiencing or planning rapid growth.

This is being delivered in partnership with Nottingham Trent University’s Nottingham Business School, the Professional Coaching Alliance, the Centre for Management & Business Development (CMBD) and East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire).

Next Monday’s event will give more details on support available, how to apply and eligibility. It follows on from a similar workshop, held last week in Nottingham (pictured). Businesses which qualify will be small and medium-sized and will have achieved some or all the following, or show the ambition to do so in future:

  • Employ ten or more people at the start of the qualifying period;
  • have a turnover of between one million and £15m a year;
  • have consistent annual growth of at least 20% for the past three years.

Eligible businesses will receive a free review of their business, to explore issues related to rapid growth. This will also be a chance to develop a bespoke action plan.

Those selected to take part will receive coaching to help address priority areas. Also on offer will be leadership development and workshops on identifying new markets. There will also be advice on sales and marketing and access to finance. Bespoke support will also be available through an executive peer-to-peer network.

SMEs will also be able to reclaim part of the cost of the business support package through a grant scheme.
