Do you live or work in the East Midlands? Don’t forget to have your say on the subject that will affect everybody in the D2N2 region.
Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are being given the opportunity by the Government to establish a new East Midlands Mayoral Combined Authority, with the promise of a guaranteed £38 million a year for 30 years, to fund the delivery of a range of public services including transport, skills and support for business.
It means that a range of strategic spending decisions, which will affect the quality of life in the East Midlands, will be taken by a directly elected mayor, similar to what happens in places like the West Midlands, Manchester and London.
Right now, the four principal local authorities in the region – Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council – have come together to collect opinions from members of the public that may influence how future investment in the region is managed.
