Live or work in the East Midlands? Don’t forget to have your say on the subject that everybody “in the know” is talking about.
Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are being given the opportunity to establish a new East Midlands Mayoral Combined Authority by the government with a promise to provide a guaranteed £38 million a year for 30 years to fund the delivery of a range of public services including transport, skills and support for business.
It means that a range of strategic spending decisions which affect the quality of life will be taken by a directly elected mayor, similar to what happens in places like the West Midlands and Manchester.
Right now, the four principal local authorities in the region – Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council – have come together to collect opinions from members of the public that may influence how future investment in the region is managed.
