Up-skill your workforce with funded short courses by Nottingham Trent University

Nottingham Trent University is offering a range of short courses to help SMEs grow by creating a more diverse, creative and productive workforce.

The courses are part of the Priority Skills programme which is part funded by D2N2 through our European Social Fund allocation. The project aims to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to access free bespoke, employer-led training, career coaching, and advice to up-skill their employees in vocational and high-level technical skills.

Each course is delivered virtually over several sessions.

Women in Leadership

Delivered over four virtual sessions, the course is designed to help women in SMEs to develop their careers and capability to manage and lead within their organisations. The course dates are:

  • Monday 25 January
  • Wednesday 24 February
  • Wednesday 10 March
  • Monday 29 March

Attendees are required to attend all above sessions to complete the course.

Practical Marketing Skills

This four-day course is accredited at Level 3 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for owners, managers and employees of SMEs to boost their marketing skills. Participants will increase their knowledge of the marketing mix, customer behaviour, use of data, and applying the marketing mix.

Dates for the courses are:

  • Thursday 21 January* (Limited places)
  • Tuesday 9 February*
  • Tuesday 16 February*
  • Thursday 18 February*
  • Tuesday 9 March*
  • Wednesday 10 March*

*and four consecutive half days on a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.

Sustainability and Inclusive Leadership (SAIL)

This course explores the global climate crisis, the very real impact this will have on the economic landscape, and how important it is for businesses to be more sustainable as they work towards COVID-19 recovery. Attendees will develop an action plan and will receive a full certificate issued by the Carbon Literacy Trust.

Course dates for 2021 are:

  • Wednesday 20 January
  • Thursday 21 January
  • Wednesday 27 January

Attendees are required to attend all above sessions to complete the course.
