D2N2 announces pipeline call for new projects

A call for new capital projects within Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, and Nottinghamshire has been announced by D2N2.

The call for new capital projects will create a pipeline of future investment propositions should further funding become available.

Capital projects in the pipeline will support the organisation’s ambitions set out in the emerging Local Industrial Strategy (LIS) and will aid the economy’s recovery from Covid-19.

Like all LEPs, D2N2 is responsible for delivering the Local Growth Fund (LGF) which is worth over £250 million to the region, alongside delivering the new £44.4m Getting Building Fund (GBF) allocation from Government.

Funding from the Local Growth Fund scheme has already been invested in many projects across the region supporting job creation, new learners, and unlocking infrastructure for the delivery of new homes.

To date, D2N2 has invested in a wide variety of projects such as the £24m Institute of Advanced Manufacturing facility, the Seymour Link Road within the Markham Vale Enterprise Zone, Ada Lovelace House in Kirkby in Ashfield, and the University of Derby’s Chesterfield Higher Level Skills Centre.

A full list of our funded projects is available on the D2N2 Projects page.

D2N2 Interim Chair David Williams said, “With the recent Getting Building Fund providing £44.4 million pounds worth of investment for ten projects within our area, it’s never been more important for our region to stand ready to attract Government investment whenever the opportunity presents itself.”

“I call upon our community to bring forward strong and ambitious projects that will improve life chances for our residents, providing more jobs, more learning opportunities, and more homes.”

Purpose of the call

Given the inherent complexities of delivering large capital projects, the current call will help populate a reserve list of projects that are at an advanced stage of development.

Alongside this list of reserve projects for Local Growth Fund and the Getting Building Fund, D2N2 is also looking to build a strong list of pipeline projects that could be presented to any new funding allocations at any given time.

Please note that these projects will only be progressed if funding becomes available.

In order to be considered for the pipeline, a prospective project must be able to demonstrate that they:

      • Have access to Match funding (no ratios are set but match funding will be considered in terms of Value for Money)
      • Land ownership/Development agreements have been set
      • All planning and relevant permissions
      • Ability to demonstrate state aid compliance
      • This funding call does not have a minimum or maximum funding ask associated to the call however the amount of funding requested will influence the Value for Money presented for the project.

It should be noted that existing LGF or GBF projects will not be considered for additional funding within this call.
