Exporting seminar will help businesses spot new horizons

Places are still available for a free seminar on how to win business overseas.

The ‘Exporting, is it for you?’ seminar, is taking place on Thursday, May 18th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the International Trade Centre, Raynesway, Derby (DE21 7RU). It is being run by the Department for International Trade – which works to encourage and help businesses buy and sell internationally – and the D2N2 Growth Hub – a free and impartial service offering business support and advice to firms in its area of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Set up by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), which works with businesses, skills and training providers, local authorities and community and voluntary organisations to grow its areas economy, the D2N2 Growth Hub has been running for two and a half years (since December 2014). It provides D2N2 area small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with free training, funding opportunities and advice on accessing finance, workshop sessions on a range of topics, and hosted and attended a wide range of events; to help start-ups and SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) across its area to grow.

Nest Thursday’s seminar is aimed at companies that are interested in exporting and is designed to help them start winning business overseas. It will take a look at the business benefits of exporting; the considerations which need to be taken into account, and a ‘’readiness-checker’’, which will look at how suitable businesses currently are to start exporting and where they can improve.

International Trade Advisers will deliver the session and there will be opportunities to hear from companies who sell a variety of product and services overseas. This seminar aims to help businesses decide on whether or not exporting is right for them and to showcase the support on offer and attendance is free.

Companies looking to attend next week’s seminar will have to evidence that they are a small to medium enterprise by filling in several forms before the event. However, businesses who have already completed these forms at previous Growth Hub events will not have to fill in a new set.
