Project details:
Run by The Prince’s Trust, Better off in Business is an intensive enterprise project to support young people, particularly those in disadvantaged areas, aged 18-30 from a NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) background to develop enterprising skills and attitudes to be able to start-up in business and assist them in connecting to mainstream business support services particularly Growth Hubs. Support includes:
- Advice on employment options
- Business skills training
- Business planning support
- Start-up loan funding (subject to assessment and availability)
- Ongoing support from a volunteer business mentor
- Access to specialist support, including free legal helpline
The project comprises a four-stage enterprise journey which is progressively and supportively styled to facilitate engagement and encourage progression towards mainstream forms of business start up support. Where this aim is not realistically attainable, the projects work with the beneficiaries towards alternative positive outcomes.
